An Approximation Algorithm for Maximum Triangle Packing
We present a randomized ( 89 169 − )-approximation algorithm for the weighted maximum triangle packing problem, for any given > 0. This is the first algorithm for this problem whose performance guarantee is better than 1 2 . The algorithm also improves the best-known approximation bound for the maximum 2-edge path packing problem. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
متن کاملAn Approximation Algorithm for the Maximum Traveling Salesman Problem
We develop a polynomial time approximation algorithm for the maximum traveling salesman problem. It guarantees a solution value of at least r times the optimal one for any given r < 5 7 .
متن کاملSimpler Approximation of the Maximum Asymmetric Traveling Salesman Problem
We give a very simple approximation algorithm for the maximum asymmetric traveling salesman problem. The approximation guarantee of our algorithm is 2/3, which matches the best known approximation guarantee by Kaplan, Lewenstein, Shafrir and Sviridenko. Our algorithm is simple to analyze, and contrary to previous approaches, which need an optimal solution to a linear program, our algorithm is c...
متن کاملAn Improved Randomized Approximation Algorithm for Maximum Triangle Packing
This paper deals with the maximum triangle packing problem. For this problem, Hassin and Rubinstein gave a randomized polynomial-time approximation algorithm that achieves an expected ratio of 43 83 (1− ) (≈ 0.518(1− )) for any constant > 0. By modifying their algorithm, we obtain a new randomized polynomial-time approximation algorithm for the problem which achieves an expected ratio of 0.5257...
متن کاملMultiplying Pessimistic Estimators: Deterministic Approximation of Max TSP and Maximum Triangle Packing
We give a generalization of the method of pessimistic estimators [14], in which we compose estimators by multiplying them. We give conditions on the pessimistic estimators of two expectations, under which the product of the pessimistic estimators is a pessimistic estimator of the product of the two expectations. This approach can be useful when derandomizing algorithms for which one needs to bo...
